Working Principle
Active carbon water filter is used to remove residual chlorine, organic matter, suspended solids and other impurities in water with granular activated carbon material.which provide good condition for the next processing section of reverse osmosis treatment .
Active carbon water filter mainly makes use of high carbon content, high molecular weight, high specific surface area activated carbon organic floc to physically adsorb the impurities in the water to achieve water quality requirements.when the water flow through the activated carbon hole,a variety of suspended particles, organic matter will be absorbed in activated carbon holes with the action of of intermolecular force .meanwhile,chlorine adsorbed on the surface of the active carbon chloride (HcCl) will set off a chemical reaction on the carbon surface , then it will be restored into chlorine ion,which will effectively remove chlorine to ensure residual chlorine content in water output will be below 0.1ppm and meet the operating conditions of RO membrane.
As to operating time goes on,interceptioned pollutant in activated carbon holes and carbon particles gradually increased, differential pressure of filter will increase till to fail to absord the pollutant. usually,,making use of reverse flowing water to backwash filter based on differential pressures . most of partciles and pollutant adsorbed in activated carbon holes will be washed away,and the carbon material will recover to absorption function.when the adsorption capacity of activated carbon is saturated till completely failure, activated carbon must be regenerated or replaced by new material to meet the requirement of water output quality.
when the active carbon filter has intercepted of excessive mechanical impurities and it affected the normal working,available backwashing method to clean the filter.
reversed water inlet the filter, filter material layer becomes loose,the intecetioned impurities adhesived on the surface of the filter material will be stripped and washed away by water flow,which is propetious to discharge out sediment, suspended particles, also prevent the carbon material from hardening, fully recover to intercept the pollutant and remove chlorine to achieve the purpose of cleaning.
Backwash circle is setted and regulated based on the parameters setting of water inlet-outlet difference pressure,usually the backwash circle is every three to four days,but it should be based on turbidity of raw water.
Control Mode
Active carbon filter can be controlled by manual or automatic type to start,wash,backwash,stop and other operations.
