In many filtering applications, a choice between the use cartridge filter or a bag filter has to be made. Both are sediments filters,
that is to say they reduce the amount of sediments transported by the fluid trough filtration.
There are some differences between these two filter systems:
- The choice of cartridge filter depends on the application. Cartridge filters are preferable for systems with contaminations lower than 100 ppm,
that is to say with contamination levels lower than 0.01% in weight.
Cartridge filter can be surface or depth-type filter: depth-type filters capture particles and contaminant through the total thickness of the medium,
while in surface filters (that are usually made of thin materials like papers, woven wire, cloths) particles are blocked on the surface of the filter.
Surface filters are best if you are filtering sediment of similar-sized particles. If all particles are i.e. five micron, a pleated 5-micron filter works best
because it has more surface area than other filters.
Compared with pleated surface filters, depth filters have a limited surface area, but they have the advantage of depth.
It can be generally stated that if the size of filter surface is increased, higher flows are possible, the filter last longer, and the dirt holding capacity increases.
Cartridge filters are normally designed disposable: this means that they have to be replaced when the filter is clogged.
bag Filters are the workhorse of the filtration industry. Finer and more carefully controlled construction in the manufacturing of filter bags have moved bag filters into filtration areas that they had never seen before.
Operation
Unfiltered fluid enters the housing and is distributed evenly around the filter bags. Filtration takes place from inside to outside. Solids are collected on the inside of filter bag for easy removal. The filtered fluid then exits through the outlet pipe.
The sizes of these pores are between the 1-50 micron.
The capacity depends on the surface area from the bags. Bigger systems can clean up to more than 500 m3 /h (multi bag filters)
There are special bags for various chemicals.
Engineering
The liquid flows from the top of the filter house (manufactured in either stainless or epoxy coated carbon steel) and is distributed equally amongst the bags. The liquid comes out at the bottom leaving the dirt behind.
Since the bag is locked in at the top of the vessel all the dirt is trapped inside the bag. The filter vessel never requires cleaning after use.
Bag filters systems are applied is various industries solutions. Treated liquids include: milk products, paint, lime, beer etc.
It can also help you with replacement from various filter bags.
01.Small probability for side-bag leakage , which effectively guarantee the filtering quality.
02.Bag type filter can bear greater working pressure, it is of small pressure loss, low operation cost and obvious energy saving .
03.Accuracy of filtration bag increased continuously, it could reach 0.5 μm at most.
04.Bag type filter large handling capacity, small volume, containing a large quantity of pollutants.
05.Based on the working principle and structure of Bag type filtering system, which is convenient to replace the filter bag and without cleaning, and time saving and labor saving.
06.Filtration bag could be use repeated after cleaning to save cost.
07.bag filter application scope is broad, with flexible operation and multiple installation .
