Multi-Media Sand Filter for Water Treatment 

 

Active carbon filter

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filtration systems use the adsorptive qualities of the media to remove highly dispersed compounds from water sources too small for the removal with standard multi-media filtration technology. These automatic filtration systems are extremely effective in removing chlorine and chlorine related compounds, organic chemicals, tastes and odors, halogenated organic compounds, hydrocarbons and other highly dispersed contaminants.All industrial media filters utilize our simple backwash system for ease of operation and consistent water quality. The automatically controlled filter systems operate for extended periods of time prior to a short backwash cycle.

The Cleaning Process

Cleaning is done by backwashing; pressurized water flows in reverse direction - from the nozzles upwards, causing suspension of the filter bed, thus releasing the suspended matter from the bedding. The dirt particles are then washed out of the filter through the back-flush valve. In automatic media filters installations the cleaning process is done by the system's controller. When the pressure differential switch senses that the differential pressure across the system reached a pre-set value, a signal is sent to the flushing controller and the self cleaning process begins.
